Shared code. Private lives.

Software that answers to the person running it.

Sprawl Commons is a loose collective of open-source agent tools built on an old idea: the people using the software should own it, see what it does, and keep what it makes. No data harvest. No quiet telemetry. No terms of service between you and your own thoughts.

Independent. Connected.Three projects. One stance.

Built out of curiosity.
Kept open for what comes next.

01 / ProjectsUseful on their own. Better in good company.

Three tools.
One stance.

Independent projects with their own repos, roadmaps and licenses, tied together by a shared belief about who the software works for.

01 / EXECUTIONIn development

Construct

An agent harness you can read end to end.

A lean harness in Rust: sandboxed tools, persistent memory, and skills that grow through use. Your machine, your keys, your logs. Not a startup, not a résumé line. Built because building it is the good part.

02 / MEMORYAvailable to explore

Chatstrata

Your conversation history, preserved and queryable.

Gather your AI conversations across providers into an archive on your own disk. Search, query and carry years of your own thinking without asking anyone's permission.

03 / DIRECTIONOn the drawing board

Deck / WORKING TITLE

Where you direct agents and review their work.

An ACP orchestration client, built first for Construct and open to any agent that speaks the protocol. Name and shape are still on the bench.

Notes from the drawing board

The intention is simple: a clear view of what your agents are doing, and a deliberate place to decide what happens next. This project is in planning.

02 / CharterWritten down so it can be held against us.

The commons
charter.

Plain commitments that every project under this name keeps. Powerful tools should leave you with more agency, not less.

0x01

No telemetry.

Nothing phones home. No usage analytics, no crash beacons, no "anonymous" metrics that turn out not to be.

0x02

Your data, your disk.

Conversations, memories and logs live where you put them, in formats you can open without us.

0x03

Explicit data flows.

When you choose a hosted model, your prompts go to that provider. The tools say so plainly, wherever it matters.

0x04

Open, and kept open.

We're committed to keeping the core projects open source. License choices are still under review; each project's repository states its current terms.

0x05

Leave anytime.

Export everything. No lock-in, no hostage data, no dark patterns on the way out.

0x06

Paid never means watched.

If anything here is ever sold, it's support, deployment or hosting you control. Never your data.

03 / OriginWhere this comes from.

Built by someone who remembers when the net felt like ours.

Sprawl Commons comes out of 90s and 2000s hacker culture: BBSes, IRC, text files passed hand to hand, and a few convictions that seemed obvious at the time. Information should move freely. Privacy is the ground free speech stands on. The people using a tool should be able to understand it.

The names nod to William Gibson, whose sprawl was a warning about who ends up owning the network. This is a small attempt to keep part of it in ordinary hands.

Contributions, bug reports and forks that stay open are always welcome.

04 / SupportIndependent by design.

Keep the lights on.

Sponsor the work

Everything here is built by a small crew (currently one person). Sponsorship keeps the projects maintained, independent, and free of anyone else's agenda.

Sponsorship coming soon.

For teams

Self-hosted deployments, setup and support for organizations that want these tools on infrastructure they control.

Team support coming later.

No grand roadmap required.

Small projects.
Room to grow.

This is a beginning. Follow a project, read the source, or bring an idea of your own. The commons grows through the work.
